Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • at least 6 months of relevant driving experience preferably in shred/box trucks and route management
  • must be 21 years of age or older
  • valid standard driver's license class D or above with excellent driving record
  • ability to obtain and maintain a valid medical examiner card
  • ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand traffic signs and respond appropriately
  • willingness to adhere to strict safety and compliance standards
  • ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading trucks
  • commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • ability to operate vehicles equipped with ELD and GPS technology

Job Qualifications

  • preferred education in high school or equivalent
  • 6+ months of experience preferably in driving shred/box trucks and route management
  • minimum age of 21 years for route management
  • valid standard driver's license class D or above with excellent driving record
  • ability to obtain and retain a valid medical examiner card (MED)
  • ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and respond to official inquiries
  • certifications including medical examiner's certification and driver's license

Job Duties

  • manages assigned routes ensuring customers' waste is picked up in a safe, timely, and accurate manner
  • pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations
  • plans daily schedule based on customers' needs by reviewing daily paperwork such as manifest, route sheets, previous VCR provided by the transportation manager or dispatcher
  • follows routing software route schedule
  • may prepare and load trucks to service select accounts for the day ensuring enough supplies are added
  • unload trucks at various Stericycle and customer sites and ensure securing of waste
  • pick up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day
  • ensures that customers have packaged and prepared the waste according to regulations before transporting
  • provide highest level of customer service to assigned accounts daily and communicate any issues to supervisor or dispatcher
  • ensures waste, supplies, and material handling equipment are secured prior to operating the vehicle on a public highway
  • completes assigned paperwork accurately and returns to supervisor or dispatcher
  • completes DOT driver log if applicable
  • communicates with supervisor or dispatcher regarding route changes, issues or customer status
  • ensures employee covering route is informed of any unusual situations
  • reports any problems with accounts before close of business
  • performs pre-trip and post-trip maintenance on assigned trucks
  • reports maintenance problems to supervisor or dispatcher
  • uses ELD and Geotab to log hours in compliance with DOT guidelines
  • perform other duties as needed
