Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one or more years relevant work experience in behavioral facility preferred
  • valid and in good standing state driver's license
  • CPR and de-escalation certification may be required
  • first aid may be required based on state or facility requirements

Job Duties

  • Drive company vehicles to transport clients for admissions, appointments, activity trips, discharges, and other special events in a punctual and timely manner
  • pick up or transport visitors or staff as needed
  • assure that all passengers are wearing seatbelts before the vehicle is started
  • maintain a constant awareness and supervision of clients while transporting them
  • comply with all company safety policies and practices and alleviate any safety issue by resolving or by notifying appropriate persons for assistance as necessary
  • serve as a positive role model for clients and peers providing examples of appropriate behaviors, effective communication, and conflict resolution
  • encourage open, honest communication to facilitate problem solving on the unit, during transport, and when attending off unit activities
  • chart in client records as appropriate and/or assigned
  • provide a verbal report/briefing to the oncoming shift
  • respond and adhere to "on call" schedule as required
  • accurately and appropriately complete all transportation documentation
  • maintain vehicle log(s) and report maintenance issues to appropriate facility staff
  • ensure all company vehicles are kept clean and functional
  • maintain vehicles in safe condition and keep record of vehicle maintenance
  • respond to units to assist in behavioral events when needed
  • drive company facility vehicle to pick-up supplies or equipment, as needed
