Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years experience in food preparation and cooking
- Valid driver license if driving is required
- Working knowledge of TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, policies, and procedures
- Ability to exercise poise, tact, and diplomacy
- Must be organized and able to prioritize multiple demands
- Ability to access and utilize relevant information effectively
- Ability to analyze data and solve problems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
- Ability to work safely at all times
- Availability for after-hour work schedule
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Ability to lift and transfer weights up to 25 pounds
- Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time
Job Qualifications

- Working knowledge of food preparation appliances and equipment
- Experience with quantity food preparation techniques and procedures
- Ability to follow recipes and modified diet preparations
- Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions
- Ability to provide guidance to others
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to learn new software and systems
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and teamwork
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and responsibly handle sensitive information
- Ability to comply with safety standards and best practices

Job Duties
- Assist with preparing, seasoning, and cooking food according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or established standards
- Inspect food preparation equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure sanitary conditions meet compliance with health standards
- Perform prepping tasks including mixing cleaning and sanitizing chemicals and preparing dish washing machines for operation
- Assist in reviewing and planning menus to determine types and quantities of food to be prepared
- Ensure that food is maintained at proper serving temperatures
- Set up serving lines and serve food
- Report on kitchen equipment in need of repair or replacement
- Assist with maintaining an inventory of supplies and preparing requisitions for needed items
- Prepare dining area by cleaning tables, utensils, cleaning and serving equipment, dispensers, and other tasks required for food service activities
- Assist in testing and standardizing recipes
- Participate in sanitation and waste collection tasks
- Provide guidance to others and recommend improvements for cooking and kitchen operations
- Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours
- Perform other duties as assigned
