Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum three years relevant experience
  • Self-motivated with outgoing, flexible and organized personality
  • Ability to maintain donor confidentiality
  • Proficiency in computer skills and fundraising database software
  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles and event management
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Valid New Mexico driver’s license
  • Physical ability to handle lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and moving frequently
  • Comfortable working in an animal shelter environment with exposure to animals, odors and noises
  • Ability to interact safely with animals of various temperaments

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum three years experience in fund development, philanthropy, event management, individual giving, public relations or community relationship building
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to maintain positive relationships
  • Experience using database systems such as Raiser’s Edge preferred
  • Demonstrated fundraising knowledge and successful event execution
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Experience working with senior management and boards preferred
  • Excellent communication and professionalism
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects to completion

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement event management program to ensure timely planning and execution
  • Manage planning and execution of annual fundraising and donor events
  • Liaise with third party event organizers
  • Collaborate with development and marketing teams to set event goals and budgets
  • Lead event committee meetings and manage vendors and volunteers
  • Serve as lead at events ensuring successful execution and guest relations
  • Manage donor relations including welcoming and retaining donors
  • Oversee donor recognition programs
  • Conduct donor cultivation and stewardship activities
  • Identify new donor prospects through community outreach
  • Manage annual giving campaigns including direct mail and online appeals
  • Serve as staff liaison to Fund Development Committee
  • Represent SFAS in community and business associations
