Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • three months experience in clerical or customer service preferred
  • specific certification or licensing based on state requirements
  • basic computer knowledge and skills
  • ability to speak, read, write and understand English
  • strong customer service skills
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions and manuals
  • ability to understand verbal instruction
  • ability to read numbers on screening equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations
  • effective communication skills
  • must be able to work day and evening hours, weekends, holidays and extended shifts frequently
  • attendance and punctuality required
  • ability to utilize all required PPE at all times
  • ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • ability to tug, lift and pull up to 35 pounds
  • ability to bend, stoop or kneel
  • ability to handle occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens
  • ability to view video display terminal less than 18 inches away for up to 4 hours
  • ability to work in temperatures of -40C or colder
  • ability to perform precise tasks requiring repetitive small motor skills such as drawing blood
  • ability to use assistive devices for mobility or communication if needed

Job Duties

  • Ensures total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations including FDA approved Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP
  • maintains high level of customer service and positive donor experience in line with company values and culture
  • maintains cleanliness of work area and stocks supplies to meet production demands
  • maintains Donor Center equipment based on Standard Operating Procedures and manufacturer instructions
  • monitors donor conditions to ensure donor comfort, safety, and product quality
  • maintains donor confidentiality according to company policy
  • maintains accurate record keeping per Standard Operating Procedures
  • troubleshoots machine alarms and performs routine quality control on equipment
  • cleans blood or plasma spills and disposes of biohazardous waste properly
  • performs donor eligibility screening including vitals evaluation, finger stick tests, and donor registration
  • sets up equipment and supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis
  • operates automated plasmapheresis machines including response to alarms and adverse events
  • collects and stores plasma product and samples per standards
  • handles tested, untested, and unsuitable products appropriately
  • organizes samples in storage freezers
  • prepares product samples for shipment following federal regulations
  • monitors freezer and refrigerator temperatures and reports malfunctions
  • performs other job-related tasks as assigned
