Job Requirements

  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of related aerospace or military experience
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical work
  • Ability to access small, confined spaces
  • Ability to pass medical and respiratory evaluation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DoD Clearance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Hobby or technical related experience in mechanical, sheet metal, composites, body work, electrical, or other dexterous activities
  • Two years of related aerospace or military experience
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work including bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working overhead
  • Ability to access small, confined spaces and work in enclosed environments
  • Ability to pass medical and respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain respirator clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DoD Clearance
  • Experience with structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps, and stabilizers preferred
  • E-2D experience preferred
  • Experience on an aerospace manufacturing new production line preferred
  • Active Secret DoD Clearance preferred
  • Knowledge of common tools and ability to record and understand precise measurements
  • Completion of an A&P certificate program or AFAB program or AFAB St preferred

Job Duties

  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Translate blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies including precision drilling, countersinking, and use of calibrated tools
  • Align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
  • Perform part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling and reaming
  • Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions
  • Modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
  • Work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends
  • Be certified for a half and full face respirator
