Job Requirements

  • Be punctual to begin your work
  • Wear proper uniform including black slacks, Black Bear Diner tee-shirt, hat, and black slip-proof shoes
  • Maintain neat and clean appearance including well-trimmed facial hair and nails, minimal jewelry
  • Sanitize all dishes, glassware, and silverware properly
  • Maintain dishwashing machine cleanliness and chemical levels
  • Wash pots and pans thoroughly following required procedures
  • Organize dish room and restock kitchen and server areas
  • Clean kitchen floors, equipment, back areas, restrooms, and parking lot
  • Take out garbage and cardboard containers on time
  • Report shortages and breakages to management
  • Work overtime when requested
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods up to 4 hours without sitting
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Multi-task effectively including communicating via radio headset

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous kitchen or dishwashing experience is an advantage
  • Ability to follow detailed cleaning and sanitation procedures
  • Strong communication skills including use of a radio headset
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
  • Physical stamina for standing, walking, and lifting heavy items

Job Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness of all china, glass, silver, pots and pans
  • Maintain sanitation of all dishes, glassware and silverware
  • Keep dishwashing machine clean and maintain chemical and sanitation fluid levels
  • Wash pots and pans following proper procedures including pre-soak, wash, rinse, sanitize
  • Organize dish room and restock kitchen line with plates, bowls, and other serving dishes
  • Re-stock food servers area with glassware, silverware, and buss tubs
  • Clean kitchen floors, freezers, refrigerators, and cooking/baking equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness of back areas, dumpster, cardboard containers, guest restrooms, and parking lot
  • Take out garbage and cardboard containers on scheduled dates
  • Report chemical shortages and dish breakage to management
  • Work overtime as needed
  • Complete other tasks assigned by management
