Job Requirements
- An associate's degree or equivalent in culinary arts, nutrition, food service management, or related field
- Three years of increasingly responsible experience in large-scale food preparation, catering, or institutional food service including providing functional direction to staff
- A valid California driver's license
- A valid Food Safety Manager Certificate (e.g., ServSafe) at time of hire or obtained by end of probationary period
- Must maintain insurability by the district's liability insurance carrier
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent in culinary arts, nutrition, food service management, or related field
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in large-scale food preparation, catering, or institutional food service including supervisory experience
- Valid California driver's license
- Food Safety Manager Certificate (e.g., ServSafe) at time of hire or by the end of probationary period
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local food safety regulations
- Ability to manage multiple catering events and food truck operations simultaneously
- Strong leadership and training skills
Job Duties
- Plan, coordinate, and lead catering operations for district meetings, events, and special programs ensuring high-quality meal preparation
- Design, test, and standardize recipes and menus aligned with nutritional guidelines and customer preferences
- Oversee operation of the district food truck including menu planning, scheduling, logistics, and regulatory compliance
- Coordinate and participate in meal preparation, delivery, and service for special programs including community home deliveries when applicable
- Provide functional and technical direction to assigned staff during catering events, food truck operations, and meal deliveries
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation standards across school sites, catering services, and food truck
- Train and mentor staff on food preparation, presentation, food safety, and customer service practices
- Maintain catering, food truck, and delivery equipment ensuring proper cleaning, servicing, and safe operation
- Monitor inventory, order supplies, and manage food and non-food items for catering and mobile food operations
- Coordinate catering event logistics including staffing assignments, schedules, transportation, and setup/breakdown of catering service areas
- Maintain accurate records related to menus, production, deliveries, sales, and compliance reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including USDA guidelines, HACCP protocols, and district food safety policies
- Perform related duties as assigned
