Job Requirements
- High school or GED equivalent
- Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic License
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days
- Two years directly related experience
- Sedentary work involving sitting most of the time with occasional walking or standing
- Ability to handle minor physical hazards such as dirt, dust, fumes, and noise
- Tuberculosis testing completed upon hire and as required
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends

Job Duties
- Communicate accurate information in a timely manner to appropriate departments and personnel
- Ensure customer satisfaction by providing high quality service meeting or exceeding department customer service goals
- Update and maintain computer database
- Activate Hospitals disaster plan per policy in coordination with the Emergency Department, Hospitals management and the HSC
- Provide accurate documentation of flight-following and dispatch activities
- Monitor and stock supply areas
- maintain equipment as appropriate
- Attend education sessions, department and other meetings as appropriate
- Monitor Concern Network activities and provide flight follow-up
- Perform continuous monitoring of radio medical channels and dispatch request line
- Provide ongoing monitoring of incoming transfers and bed status
- Assist in orienting new employees as required
- Assist in patient care activities in the Emergency Department during disaster or MCI incidents or other situations as needed
- Answer all incoming ambulance radio traffic
- make preliminary determination of patient destination within the Hospital
- activate specialty teams as needed
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
- Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
- Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
- Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
- Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
- Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don’t understand or may not seem right
- Dispatch and coordinate ground and air transport requests
- Participate in department quality and safety programs
- Provide quote information for prescheduled transports in conjunction with clerical support to requesting persons or agencies
- Monitor internet site for hospital divert status changes and update as needed
- activate MCI protocols as situations arise and coordinate MCI communications
- Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, topical application, sublingual and intravenous administration of medications via the seven rights
- provide for nebulized drug administration
- document and communicate clinical findings
