Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current certification as Ohio EMT desired
- Current Emergency Medical Dispatcher (IAED EMD) certification desired or to be obtained within three years of hire
- Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) certification must be obtained within one year of hire and maintained
- Minimum two years of EMS, law enforcement, or critical care dispatching experience preferred
- Alternatively, minimum two years of Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) or Fixed Wing Ambulance dispatching experience preferred
- Experience as MedComm Transport Coordinator or Hospital Facilitator preferred
- Proficient typing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), emergency phone, radio, and critical communications systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong interpersonal skills for interaction under stress
- Ability to work well with diverse staff
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Excellent computer and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to negotiate effectively
Job Duties
- Receive and process transport requests for both air and ground medical services
- Dispatch appropriate transport units promptly and efficiently
- Maintain continuous monitoring and coordination of all transport units
- Collect and document accurate pre and post-transport patient information
- Initiate Post Accident Incident Plan (PAIP) when required following established procedures
- Communicate clearly and precisely with emergency personnel, transport crews, and aviation staff in high-stress situations
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and MedFlight's core values during all operations
