Job Requirements
- May be required to work weekends and holidays as assigned
- May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired
- May be required to work extended hours (up to 16 hours per day)
- May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B and C viruses
- Could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents due to mental status
- Must be in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases
- Background, criminal, and drug tests may be required
- May be asked to submit to random drug test during employment
- May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising
- May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents' apartments
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred/GED accepted
- Some kitchen experience is desirable
- Basic knife skills required
- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- Must have organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Physically able to bend and reach
- Physically able to push and pull and lift up to 40-50 pounds if necessary
- Physically able to stand for extended periods of time
Job Duties
- Follows the posted work schedule and arrives on time and in appropriate work attire
- Responsible for the proper washing of china, flatware, glassware, and other kitchen equipment including machine rinse pressure and water temperature
- Responsible for maintaining the kitchen and other assigned areas in a sanitary condition
- Establishes and maintains constructive working relationships with other kitchen personnel and residents
- Must be familiar with food-handling procedures and regulations
- Must know how to operate kitchen appliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine
- May be required to help with food preparation, inventory, and maintenance as well as food deliveries and stocking shelves
- Follow all emergency procedures
- Understands all safety practices and procedures
- Reports on-the-job injuries to the Community Cook and/or Food & Beverage Director before the end of the workshift on the day the injury occurs
- Communicates effectively with Food & Beverage Director and other staff
- Advises Food & Beverage Director of any changes in physical or mental health of a resident immediately
- Maintains an acceptable attendance record, notifies Food & Beverage Director if he/she expects to be late or unable to work in accordance with personnel policies, and follows work schedule
