Job Requirements
- High school diploma preferred or GED accepted
- Some kitchen experience desirable
- Basic knife skills required
- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- Organizational and time management skills
- Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Physical ability to bend, reach, push, pull and lift up to 40-50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- May work weekends and holidays
- May work shifts other than hired shift
- May work extended hours up to 16 hours
- May be exposed to infectious diseases including HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis B and C
- Ability to handle hostile or emotionally upset residents
- Good physical and emotional health

Job Duties
- Follow the posted work schedule and arrive on time and in appropriate work attire
- Responsible for the proper washing of china, flatware, glassware, and other kitchen equipment including machine rinse pressure and water temperature
- Maintain the kitchen and other assigned areas in a sanitary condition
- Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with other kitchen personnel and residents
- Familiar with food-handling procedures and regulations
- Operate kitchen appliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine
- Assist with food preparation, inventory, maintenance, food deliveries, and stocking shelves
- Follow all emergency procedures
- Understand all safety practices and procedures
- Report on-the-job injuries to the Community Cook and/or Food & Beverage Director before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs
- Communicate effectively with Food & Beverage Director and other staff
- Advise Food & Beverage Director of any changes in physical or mental health of a resident immediately
- Maintain an acceptable attendance record, notify Food & Beverage Director if late or unable to work as per personnel policies, and follow work schedule
