Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred or GED accepted
  • Some kitchen experience desirable
  • Basic knife skills required
  • Physical ability to bend, reach, stand for long periods, push, pull, and lift up to 40-50 pounds
  • Ability to follow safety and emergency procedures
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours
  • Must be in good physical and emotional health
  • Background, criminal, and drug tests may be required
  • Ability to handle exposure to infectious waste and emotionally upset residents
  • Willingness to be video recorded or photographed for community use as needed

Job Duties

  • Follow the posted work schedule and arrive on time in appropriate work attire
  • Properly wash china, flatware, glassware, and kitchen equipment including machine rinse pressure and water temperature
  • Maintain kitchen and assigned areas in a sanitary condition
  • Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with kitchen personnel and residents
  • Operate kitchen appliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine
  • Assist with food preparation, inventory, food delivery, and stocking shelves as needed
  • Follow all emergency procedures and safety practices
  • Report on-the-job injuries promptly to Community Cook or Food and Beverage Director
  • Communicate effectively with Food and Beverage Director and staff
  • Advise Food and Beverage Director of any changes in resident physical or mental health
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record and notify Food and Beverage Director of absences or lateness
