Job Requirements
- High school diploma preferred or GED accepted
- Some kitchen experience desirable
- Basic knife skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- Organizational and time management skills
- Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Physically able to bend, reach, push, pull, lift up to 40-50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as assigned
- Willingness to work shifts other than hired for
- Ability to work extended hours up to 16 hours per day
- Must be in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases
- Background, criminal and drug tests may be required
- May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases including HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis B and C
- Must maintain professional conduct and handle potentially hostile or emotionally upset residents appropriately

Job Duties
- Follow the posted work schedule and arrive on time in appropriate work attire
- Properly wash china, flatware, glassware, and kitchen equipment including managing machine rinse pressure and water temperature
- Maintain kitchen and assigned areas in sanitary condition
- Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with kitchen personnel and residents
- Be familiar with food-handling procedures and regulations
- Operate kitchen appliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine
- Assist with food preparation, inventory, maintenance, food deliveries, and shelf stocking
- Follow all emergency procedures
- Understand and adhere to safety practices and procedures
- Report on-the-job injuries to the Community Cook or Food & Beverage Director promptly
- Communicate effectively with Food & Beverage Director and staff
- Advise Food & Beverage Director of any changes in resident’s physical or mental health immediately
- Maintain acceptable attendance and notify Food & Beverage Director if late or unable to work
