Job Requirements
- May be required to work weekends and holidays as assigned
- may be required to work shifts other than hired shift
- may be required to work extended hours up to 16 hours per day
- may be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions such as HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis B and C
- could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents due to mental status
- must be in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases
- background, criminal and drug tests may be required
- may be asked to submit to random drug tests during employment
- may have image used in social media or community advertising
- may be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents apartments
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred or GED accepted
- some kitchen experience desirable
- basic knife skills required
- ability to handle multiple priorities
- organizational and time management skills
- good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
- physically able to bend and reach
- physically able to push, pull and lift up to 40-50 pounds
- physically able to stand for extended periods
Job Duties
- Follow the posted work schedule and arrive on time and in appropriate work attire
- responsible for proper washing of china, flatware, glassware, and other kitchen equipment including machine rinse pressure and water temperature
- maintain kitchen and assigned areas in a sanitary condition
- establish and maintain constructive working relationships with kitchen personnel and residents
- be familiar with food-handling procedures and regulations
- operate kitchen appliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine
- assist with food preparation, inventory, and maintenance, including food deliveries and stocking shelves
- follow all emergency procedures
- understand all safety practices and procedures
- report on-the-job injuries to the Community Cook and/or Food & Beverage Director before end of work shift on the day injury occurs
- communicate effectively with Food & Beverage Director and other staff
- advise Food & Beverage Director of any changes in physical or mental health of a resident immediately
- maintain acceptable attendance record and notify Food & Beverage Director if late or unable to work
