Job Requirements

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification by first day of work
  • availability to work Sunday through Saturday with variable shifts
  • physical ability to lift, bend, stand for long periods, and work around cleaning chemicals and dish machines
  • ability to communicate clearly and understand spoken information
  • manual dexterity to operate equipment
  • willingness to adhere to hospital hygiene and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification required by first day of work
  • one or more years of experience in general housekeeping or food service preferred
  • ability to read color coded labels and chemicals
  • ability to follow written and verbal directions
  • ability to operate housekeeping equipment and dish machine preferred

Job Duties

  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes
  • collects carts with patient trays from hospital floors
  • cleans and disinfects assigned dining and work areas using departmental cleaning procedures
  • uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards
  • understands and properly disposes of infectious waste and trash
  • operates and maintains commercial dishwashing equipment according to established procedures
  • communicates clearly and follows written and verbal directions
