Job Requirements

  • Must have basic knowledge of dishwashing
  • Must be able to see minute objects at arm’s length
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crouch, crawl and reach to retrieve items from above head
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs including trays, carts and small equipment up to 75% of the time
  • Must be able to travel up to 300 feet and stand regularly throughout the shift
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and pay attention to details in crowded and noisy settings
  • Must handle china, glassware and fragile equipment with care to minimize breakage

Job Duties

  • Gather all dirty dishware from tubs brought to the dish room, rinse and stack in dishracks clearing dishes of leftovers and trash to prepare for washing
  • Load full dishracks on belt ensuring correct placement according to machine operation instructions
  • Operate automatic dish washing machine using controls as instructed
  • Load dishwashing solutions into automatic dispensers and regulate detergent and chemical output by monitoring controls
  • Unload clean dishes from racks after machine processing, inspect for cleanliness, and carefully stack in specified carts and shelves
  • Manually scrub pots, pans and kitchen equipment that cannot be washed automatically using detergents and special solutions, inspect and dry manually before putting away
  • Manually polish silver, stainless steel and pewter used in food service using standard polishing cloth and products
  • Maintain automatic dishwashing equipment in good condition according to manufacturer instructions to prolong life, prevent breakdowns, and meet health compliance
  • Keep dish room clean and orderly by sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, wiping counters and organizing shelves
  • Mop kitchen floors as requested and at end of each shift, clean kitchen surfaces including walls, ceilings, hoods, vents and ovens on a regular schedule
  • Gather trash cans from kitchen work areas at end of shifts and empty into outside trash compactor
  • Sweep loading dock and kitchen entrance areas removing litter and debris for safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by management
