Job Duties
- maintains cleanliness of kitchen and dining room
- ensures all dishware and preparation tools are clean and sanitized after each use
- assists in preparation and service of food using proper food handling and food safety techniques according to established policies and regulations
- keeps work area clean and uncluttered
- maintains the proper temperature of food during preparation and service
- records temperatures of food according to established policy
- maintains the proper temperature and sanitation of dish machine during use
- records temperatures of dish machine according to established policy
- labels, dates and stores food and chemicals properly according to established policies
- ensures that refrigerator/freezer temperatures are within the appropriate range and reports any discrepancies to the supervisor
- washes pots, pans, serving utensils, etc. according to established procedures for manual and/or automatic dishwashing, then stores them away properly to avoid contamination
- reports all hazardous and malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor as directed
- makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding improvements in equipment, etc. to enhance the quality of the food service
- develops and maintains a good working relationship, in a cooperative manner, with all employees in the food service department and other departments in the facility
- participates in programs for in-service education, on-the-job training and orientation classes for newly assigned department personnel
- maintains confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to ensure resident rights are protected
