The Dishwasher role at Mexico Ceaty is a critical position that ensures the smooth operation of the kitchen by maintaining a continuous flow of clean dishes, glassware, and kitchen equipment. This role is vital because every plate that reaches the guest has passed through the dishwasher's hands. The impact of this position is greater than often recognized, as without clean dishes, the restaurant cannot function efficiently. The ideal candidate for this role embraces the principle of GWC—Get it, Want it, and Capacity to do it—showing full ownership of their responsibilities. This includes washing and sanitizing all dishware continuously throughout shifts, promptly returning cleaned items to their correct stations, and maintaining a clean, safe environment in the dish pit. The dishwasher is also expected to assist with basic kitchen cleaning and prep support during slower periods and to adhere strictly to all sanitation and chemical safety protocols.

A successful dishwasher at Mexico Ceaty proactively manages tasks by taking out trash before overflow, maintaining hazard-free flooring with no standing water, and communicating openly with line cooks and managers if they fall behind to ensure the kitchen always has the resources it needs to operate smoothly. Winning in this role means the kitchen never runs out of clean dishes or glassware during service, the dish pit remains clean and safe throughout the night, and kitchen staff compliment the fast turnaround of their equipment. Ultimately, the dishwasher ensures that the kitchen ends each shift fully clean, organized, and ready for the next day’s service, playing a vital role in the restaurant’s overall success and guest satisfaction.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • wash and sanitize all dishes, glassware, and kitchen equipment continuously throughout your shift
  • return clean items to the correct stations immediately with no stacking or waiting
  • keep the dish pit floor clean and safe at all times with no standing water or slip hazards
  • take out trash proactively before it overflows
  • assist with basic kitchen cleaning tasks and prep support during slower periods
  • follow all sanitation and chemical safety protocols without exception
  • communicate with line cooks and managers if you are getting backed up and speak up early
