Job Qualifications

  • One year food experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility or related medical facility preferred
  • ability to cook variety of foods in large quantities

Job Duties

  • Remove soiled plates and flatware from tables
  • wash dishes thoroughly
  • reset tables for the next party
  • restock items
  • unload delivery trucks
  • help prepare cook stations
  • clean appliances and machines
  • empty and clean trash receptacles
  • sweep and mop floors as directed
  • prepare food in accordance with standardized recipe, planned menus and special diet orders
  • prepare and serve bedtime snacks
  • prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
  • prepare and serve substitute foods to residents who refuse foods served
  • provide appropriate equipment and utensils with resident meal trays
  • serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
  • report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials and hazardous chemicals
  • attend and participate in mandatory in-service training programs
  • assist/direct daily or scheduled cleaning duties
  • dispose of food and waste in accordance with policies
  • follow infection prevention and control policies
  • ensure safety regulations and precautions are followed
  • maintain clean and safe department environment
  • report all accidents/incidents and hazardous conditions
  • maintain food storage areas clean and properly arranged
  • recommend equipment and supply needs
  • assist in inventorying and storing incoming food and supplies
  • assist in food preparation for special meals and parties
  • make only authorized food substitutions
  • assist in serving meals as necessary
