Job Requirements

  • None
  • preferred high school graduate or equivalent
  • preferred 1 year of related experience
  • required ANSI Accredited Texas Food Handler or ANSI Accredited Food Manager course or Certified Food Manager from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District
  • ability to perform physical tasks related to cleaning and transport
  • compliance with all sanitary and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • ability to operate cleaning and sanitation equipment

Job Duties

  • Washes pots and pans by hand and by machine according to food safety standards
  • cleans and sanitizes dishes
  • collects soiled items from cafeteria/lounge/nursing units
  • operates, cleans, and sanitizes necessary equipment
  • sweeps and mops all areas of the department
  • collects and disposes of trash
  • transports food to other areas as needed
  • transports carts to and from other units while respecting hospital property
  • utilizes equipment and chemicals safely
  • monitors, corrects, and logs sanitation control
  • reports equipment malfunctions/concerns
  • adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations
  • utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
  • maintains safe environment
  • addresses patient population-specific needs
  • participates in performance improvement activities
