Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment is advantageous
  • food handler's permit or ServeSafe certification as required by state law
  • ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • must be dependable, enthusiastic, and dedicated
  • ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards of hygiene
  • ability to collaborate with a team and follow supervisor instructions
  • must pass all required background checks and drug screenings

Job Qualifications

  • Possess food handler's permit or ServeSafe certification as per state requirements
  • ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions in English
  • ability to relate positively and favorably to residents and families
  • ability to work cooperatively with other employees
  • must pass drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry

Job Duties

  • Washing and sanitizing dishes
  • assist in food preparation, serving, and maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in the kitchen and dining areas
  • check that plate and hot base lowerator is heated and steam table is properly heated
  • ensure accurate serving portions and food items on each tray before loading to the food cart
  • ensure appropriate serving utensils are used and temperatures are within standards with all temperatures logged and reviewed prior to tray-line
  • during tray line, ensure trays are garnished, neatly arranged, and that silverware, cups, and dishes are clean and plate covers are dry
  • after tray-line, check and record excess or shortage preparation and discuss with the supervisor
