Job Duties

  • Maintains cleanliness of kitchen and dining room
  • ensures all dishware and preparation tools are clean and sanitized after each use
  • assists in preparation and service of food using proper food handling and food safety techniques according to established policies and regulations
  • keeps work area clean and uncluttered
  • maintains the proper temperature of food during preparation and service
  • records temperatures of food according to established policy
  • maintains the proper temperature and sanitation of dish machine during use
  • records temperatures of dish machine according to established policy
  • labels, dates and stores food and chemicals properly according to established policies
  • ensures that refrigerator/freezer temperatures are within the appropriate range and reports any discrepancies to the supervisor
  • washes pots, pans, serving utensils, etc. according to established procedures for manual and/or automatic dishwashing then stores them away properly to avoid contamination
  • reports all hazardous and malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor as directed
  • makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding improvements in equipment, etc. to enhance the quality of the food service
  • develops and maintains a good working relationship, in a cooperative manner, with all employees in the food service department and other departments in the facility
  • participate in programs for in-service education, on-the-job training and orientation classes for newly assigned department personnel
  • maintains confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to ensure resident rights are protected
