Job Requirements
- work performed in a medical setting due to the need to work directly with kitchen equipment
- must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, stretch, and twist
- stamina to stand for extended periods while operating dishwashing equipment and performing cleaning tasks in the kitchen
- capability to lift and carry heavy racks of dishes, trays, and pots, weighing up to 20lbs, as needed during dishwashing and storage activities
- proficiency in performing tasks that require manual dexterity, such as loading and unloading dishes, stacking plates, and handling utensils
- knowledge of and adherence to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the kitchen, including proper use of protective equipment and safe handling of cleaning agents
- while performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, infections, waste, blood and body fluid, diseases, and conditions prevalent at the time
- required vision includes close, vision, distance, peripheral, and the ability to adjust focus
- maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor/manager
Job Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in a food service or kitchen environment preferred
- food handler's card required
- basic knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and kitchen hygiene standards
- ability to operate dishwashing equipment and perform basic maintenance tasks as needed
- attention to detail and cleanliness, with the ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties
- Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, trays, and kitchen equipment
- sort and stack clean dishes and utensils in designated storage areas, ensuring proper organization, hygiene, and accessibility for kitchen staff
- remove trash and recyclables from kitchen areas, empty garbage cans, compost bins, and recycling bins as needed, disposing of waste according to facility procedures
- assist with general cleaning and sanitation tasks in the kitchen including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down countertops and surfaces, and sanitizing equipment and workstations
- maintain cleanliness and orderliness of dishwashing areas, including dish racks, sinks, drains, and storage shelves, to meet health department regulations and facility standards
- assist kitchen staff with food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients, as directed by supervisors
- adhere to food safety and hygiene practices, including proper handwashing, glove use, and temperature monitoring, to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety
- follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the kitchen, including proper handling of knives, hot surfaces, and chemical cleaning agents
- assist with receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies, verifying quantities and quality of items, and stocking shelves and storage areas as directed
- collaborate with dietary staff, including cooks, dietary aides, and supervisors to support kitchen operations, meet production schedules, and maintain cleanliness standards
- perform all other duties as requested by management
