Job Requirements

  • Ability to tolerate varied working conditions including humid and wet areas
  • Ability to withstand high noise levels and frequent interruptions
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and push, pull or transport up to 150 pounds
  • Ability to carry 50 pounds for short distances
  • Ability to remain calm under stress
  • Sense of smell, taste, and touch
  • Sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures
  • Ability to bend and lift over shoulders
  • Friendly and polite demeanor
  • Ability to work independently and quickly especially during rush periods
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food handling practices
  • No prior experience required, hospitality experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior hospitality or kitchen experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy, and sometimes humid environment
  • Strong attention to sanitation and cleanliness standards
  • Ability to follow safety protocols when handling chemicals and equipment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks
  • Ability to work independently and multitask effectively
  • Familiarity with food fundamentals and sanitation procedures

Job Duties

  • Properly fill and maintain dish machine according to manufacturer's standards
  • Maintain cleanliness standards of machine according to health department guidelines
  • Receive scrapes, rinse, and rack dishes and utensils
  • Unload dish machine, stack, store, and return dishes and utensils to proper areas
  • Empty garbage cans in dish area and throughout kitchen as needed
  • Maintain dish area including floors, walls, and counters within prescribed standards
  • Sweep and mop floors in dish room, walk-in cooler, freezer, and kitchen
  • Clean and replace floor mats
  • Perform general cleaning tasks using hotel cleaning products as assigned
  • Wipe down countertops and preparation areas
  • Restock supplies like hand towels, soap, plates, and dishes
  • Handle cleaning chemicals according to safety standards
  • Assist with lifting and moving of food carts, dish racks, and kitchen equipment
  • Stock cafeteria supplies and inventory paper items
  • Prepare hot and cold food items per menu and recipe specifications
  • Set up hot food and cold salad bar timely
  • Maintain high quality food production and presentation
  • Follow food fundamentals and sanitation procedures
  • Maintain personal cleanliness, hygiene, and professional appearance
  • Break down and set up stations
  • Follow Employee Cafeteria schedule
  • Remove day-old pastry items as requested
  • Perform other assigned duties
