Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree required preferably in Safety, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Security Management or Police Science
Ten years of security management experience required
Certification from International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety as Supervisor or Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator required within 12 months from date of hire
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR card required
Valid California Driver's License and good driving record required
Out-of-state candidates must obtain California Driver's License within three months from hire
Strong verbal and written communication skills required
Ability to exercise sound reasoning and confidentiality with tactful demeanor required
Proven successful leadership experience required
Seven years of leadership experience preferred
Experience with aggressive patients and application of de-escalation techniques preferred
Four years of emergency preparedness or disaster planning experience preferred
Business management experience preferred
Knowledge of Joint Commission Environment of Care standards preferred
Knowledge of lean management principles preferred

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

Ensure security and safety of SAMC and all affiliated locations
Develop and enforce hospital and regulatory safety and security policies
Conduct regular inspections and patrols of facilities and grounds
Respond promptly to safety concerns and unusual events
Manage daily operations of Security and Valet functions
Serve as primary representative to outside agencies on safety and security matters
Oversee emergency preparedness and coordinate disaster planning activities
