Job Requirements

  • Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred
  • Ten years of related experience
  • Three to four years of management experience
  • Minimum of six months experience in a teaching or training environment for adults
  • Ability to use hands to handle objects, reach with hands and arms, and communicate
  • Capability to stand, walk, sit, and position oneself as required
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to operate simulator controls and enter/exit simulator devices
  • Capability to work near moving parts and in various environmental conditions including extremes of temperature and exposure to fumes
  • Vision requirements including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception

Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred
  • Ten years of related experience
  • Three to four years of management experience
  • Six months minimum teaching/training experience with adult learners
  • Demonstrated management skills including planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling projects
  • Results-oriented focus on achieving objectives
  • Strong decision-making abilities balancing short and long-term goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven leadership capabilities to motivate and inspire teams

Job Duties

  • Supervise the development of standardized courseware documentation
  • Ensure that materials comply with regulatory requirements
  • Review data from customer requests, airworthiness directives, and manufacturers for training applicability
  • Propose changes to courses, courseware, and training equipment as needed
  • Coordinate and standardize pilot training programs, classroom media, lesson plans, and instructor guides by aircraft type
  • Manage customer training activities
  • Monitor quality assurance through random observations of instructor teaching skills
  • Maintain instructor qualifications according to regulations
  • Monitor compliance with FlightSafety's Professional Instructor Handbook
  • Act as a ground and flight instructor when required
  • Provide support and resources to instructors
  • Conduct periodic instructor meetings to discuss policies and customer issues
  • Evaluate and certify new hire pilot instructors
  • Collaborate with Director of Pilot Standards to ensure instructor training
  • Recommend instructors for special regulatory designations
  • Interview and evaluate prospective team members
  • Provide project direction, set priorities, and monitor staff achievements
  • Facilitate departmental meetings
  • Conduct performance appraisals and conferences
  • Coordinate personnel matters with teammate resources
