Job Requirements

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university or 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in sales and marketing or related professional area
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to develop and implement sales strategies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments
  • Knowledge of market analysis and competitor research
  • Familiarity with sales contracts and customer service standards
  • Commitment to uphold brand standards and guest satisfaction
  • Ability to manage marketing budgets and promotions
  • Willingness to participate in sales calls and client events
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor sales associates

Job Qualifications

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 4 years experience in sales and marketing

  • Demonstrated skills in supervising a team
  • Lodging sales experience
  • Hotel industry work experience with progressive career growth and exceptional performance
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and develop marketing campaigns
  • Proficiency in evaluating market trends and competitor strategies

Job Duties

  • Manages the development of a strategic account plan for demand generators in the market
  • Manages the property’s reactive and proactive sales efforts
  • Determines and develops marketing communication activities with Regional Marketing Communications
  • Provides customer intelligence by evaluating market and economic trends
  • Reviews Strategic Alignment Review report and competitive shopping reports
  • Researches competitor sales strategies to grow occupancy and RevPAR
  • Attends sales strategy meetings and provides input
  • Suggests innovative marketing ideas and develops deployment strategies
  • Evaluates and supports participation with Area and Group Sales
  • Serves as sales contact for General Manager, leadership team, Group Sales, and customers
  • Serves as hotel authority on sales processes and contracts
  • Acts as liaison with Area Sales, Group Sales, Revenue Management, and Event Management
  • Participates in sales calls to acquire new business or close deals
  • Identifies public relations opportunities
  • Coordinates crisis communications
  • Supports Marriott’s Customer Service and Brand Standards
  • Executes business operational aspects like proposals, contracts, and correspondence
  • Practices daily service basics of the brand
  • Implements seamless turnover between sales and operations
  • Monitors resolution of guest issues linked to sales process
  • Maintains performance by increasing revenue and controlling expenses
  • Implements brand service strategy to build long-term customer relationships
  • Interfaces with regional marketing for promotions
  • Develops partnerships with local organizations
  • Manages internal key stakeholder relationships
  • Maintains property participation in tradeshows and events
  • Drives customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Understands customer needs and business concerns
  • Functions as leader of property sales department
  • Develops sales goals and aligns with brand strategy
  • Executes sales strategy to meet booking goals
  • Coaches revenue generating department leaders
  • Ensures sales team leverages Marriott demand engines
  • Ensures compliance with regulations and union requirements
  • Partners with HR for talent acquisition and retention
  • Creates effective structures and performance management systems
  • Sets goals and expectations for direct reports
  • Forecasts talent needs and manages acquisition strategy
  • Maintains list of competition’s top salespeople and executes recruitment plans
  • Supports training resources for associates
  • Champions leadership development and workforce planning
  • Identifies, trains, and mentors group sales associates
  • Transfers functional knowledge to other managers
  • Provides day-to-day leadership to sales associates
  • Manages marketing budget for campaigns and promotions
  • Performs other duties as needed to meet business needs
