Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Five or more years of related and progressive sales experience in hospitality
- Two years as a supervisor or manager in similar setting
- Ability to lead and mentor staff to meet or exceed guest expectations
- Strong negotiation and closing skills
- Ability to deliver persuasive sales presentations
- Proficient in MS Office applications and hotel computer systems
- Ability to work varying schedules including holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts
- Maintain a clean appearance and professional demeanor
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Ability to work on property location
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management desired
- Five or more years of related and progressive sales experience in hospitality
- Two years as a supervisor or manager in similar setting desired
- Sales experience in a Marriott hotel highly preferred
- Solid knowledge of Marriott hotel service standards, guest relations and etiquette
- Ability and experience in leading and coordinating staff in a high volume, time sensitive environment
- Strong knowledge of sales techniques with the ability to negotiate and close sales
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective sales processes
- Ability to create and deliver sales presentations
- Proficient with MS Office applications
- Strong attention to detail and multitasking ability
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
Job Duties
- Provides guidance and direction to ensure overall departmental success
- Manages subordinate sales and marketing staff
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Sales and Marketing Departments
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisals, rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems
- Plans department goals and directs team members to achieve results
- Actively solicits new business opportunities through prospecting and networking
- Researches market trends and client data to develop sales strategies
- Develops and implements individual and department sales plans
- Participates in community and industry events to market the property
- Plans, manages and evaluates financial aspects of sales efforts to ensure cost effectiveness and optimal utilization of resources
- Supports staff sales efforts including sales trips and customer entertainment
- Participates in hiring process and management training
- Prepares annual budget, achieves budgeted revenues, controls expenses, and maximizes profitability
- Ensures guests receive exceptional service by collaborating with other departments
- Handles guest complaints and seeks opportunities to improve satisfaction
- Reports to work as scheduled on time and regularly
