Job Description
The Director of Retail Operations is a pivotal leadership role within the Colony's retail management framework, overseeing the chain of Smoke Shops that serve the community. The Colony's Smoke Shops represent a specialized retail environment focused on tobacco products and related merchandise, operating under strict regulatory and cultural guidelines unique to its Tribal setting. Job Requirements
- Minimum of high school diploma
- ability to work productively in a diverse cultural setting
- bondable and able to pass security background check
- completion of Conflict-of-Interest Declaration and Ethics-Disclosure Requirements
- valid Nevada driver’s license
- Indian preference applies
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma
- preferred Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in business development, marketing, accounting or related field
- demonstrated knowledge of retail principles, preferably multi-unit operations
- working knowledge of business proposals and business plans
- experience in conducting business in Tribal settings
- experience with multinational tobacco manufacturers and Tribal Governments
- proficiency with point-of-sale software and Microsoft Office Suite
- proven ability to manage multiple projects
- excellent oral and written communication skills
- working knowledge of Nevada retail laws
- ability to work productively in a diverse cultural setting
- bondable and able to pass security background check
- valid Nevada driver’s license
- Indian preference applies
Job Duties
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of informal reports such as monthly sales reports
- prepare or supervise preparation of operating budgets
- monitor operating statements for compliance with budgets and goals
- formulate pricing policies and determine merchandise stock levels
- produce operational records and analyze store profitability
- recommend new store locations or closure of existing stores
- negotiate contracts with cigarette vendors and allocate merchandise
- identify tobacco industry trends and ensure compliance with government regulations
- supervise enforcement of company policies by workers
- review and update Operations Manual annually
- coordinate compliance with Tribal policies, ordinances, and governmental statutes
- develop and implement 'No Sales to Minors' policy verifications
- develop Tobacco Compliance Check Program with federal or state agencies
- interview and recommend candidates for managerial positions
- monitor performance of Smoke Shop Managers and take remedial actions as needed
- coordinate sales and promotional activities
- administer advertising budget and coordinate advertising materials
- prepare employee training programs and conduct training
- establish customer service standards and ensure adherence
- assist lobbyists by reviewing legislative proposals and providing trade information
- perform related duties as assigned
