Job Requirements
- bachelor's degree in public administration, civil engineering, or related field preferred
- six years of experience in public works administration
- at least two years of experience in a managerial capacity in a large public agency
- knowledge of public works regulations and environmental compliance
- ability to manage large budgets and complex projects
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- experience working in politically sensitive environments
- strong problem-solving and strategic planning abilities
Job Qualifications
- six years of experience in public works administration
- understanding of public works issues, practices, policies and trends
- at least two years of managerial experience within a large public agency and political environment
- strong leadership and people development skills
- exceptional communication and decision-making capabilities
- experience with fiscal accountability and managing large budgets
- proven ability to foster collaboration and build trust with diverse stakeholders
Job Duties
- lead and oversee county road and transportation systems
- manage facilities, capital construction, and new building programs
- supervise county fleet operations including transition to electrification
- direct airport operations at San Carlos and Half Moon Bay
- ensure compliance with utilities, environmental, and stormwater regulations
- develop and implement long-range infrastructure strategies
- foster collaboration across county departments and community stakeholders
