Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and seven years related experience or equivalent combination
  • Five years of project management experience or three years acting as a project lead
  • Direct experience managing and tracking multiple projects
  • Experience managing project teams and working with cross-functional staff
  • Experience in a highly matrixed, decentralized, and collaborative organization
  • Experience meeting time sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information sensitively
  • Flexibility to travel and work long or flexible hours as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Seven years of related experience
  • Five years of project management experience or three years as a project lead
  • Experience managing multiple and complex projects
  • Experience working with cross-functional and matrixed teams
  • Experience meeting time-sensitive deadlines
  • Credentialed certification in Highly Effective Teams or Project Management Professional is preferred
  • Strong analytical and English writing skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Interpersonal skills including negotiation and persuasion
  • Experience in multicultural or cross-cultural environments
  • Ability to quickly learn business unit strategy
  • Familiarity with business unit focus area
  • Experience supervising staff, interns, or volunteers
  • Ability to develop and drive new ideas
  • Proficiency in interpreting guidelines and analyzing data
  • Successful experience implementing strategic goals

Job Duties

  • Lead culture and engagement practices within the business unit
  • Facilitate two-way communication and staff engagement activities
  • Build routines that sustain a healthy, connected, high-performance culture
  • Drive operational excellence and systems alignment
  • Map workflows and clarify roles and handoffs
  • Strengthen internal controls and improve cross-team coordination
  • Translate division initiatives into business unit processes, timelines, and communications
  • Monitor progress against goals and adjust plans with stakeholders
  • Provide finance-adjacent leadership and support staff understanding of finance processes
  • Coach and enable leaders and teams in change-management practices
  • Anticipate risks and interdependencies
  • Facilitate issue resolution across functions
  • Map and improve business unit operating mechanisms
  • Act independently and exercise judgment to solve problems
  • Strengthen internal controls and risk mitigation
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information
  • Champion inclusive culture and facilitate feedback loops
  • Support adoption of change-management practices
  • Partner with finance leads on organizational finance changes
  • Model collaborative, systems-oriented leadership
  • Ensure adherence to Conservancy policies and support audit readiness
  • Act on behalf of State Director and Deputy Director as delegated
  • May supervise administrative or professional staff
  • Travel occasionally and work flexible hours as needed
