Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • minimum of five years' experience in operations management
  • experience in nonprofit or food bank sectors highly desirable
  • proven leadership capabilities
  • in-depth knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory compliance
  • strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • effective communication skills
  • competency with IT systems relevant to logistics and inventory
  • commitment to the mission of alleviating hunger
  • ability to work flexible hours as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, logistics, or a related field preferred
  • extensive experience in operations management, preferably in a nonprofit or food bank setting
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance standards
  • experience with budgeting and financial oversight
  • excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • proficiency in technology systems related to inventory and logistics management
  • problem-solving and strategic planning expertise
  • ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders

Job Duties

  • Oversee daily operations including food distribution, inventory management, warehouse logistics, transportation, volunteer coordination, facility maintenance, food sourcing, and information technology
  • develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices
  • monitor performance metrics and ensure operational goals are met
  • monitor compliance with AIB, OSHA, Feeding America guidelines, and all federal, state, and local regulations
  • supervise, mentor, and evaluate operational staff and volunteers
  • foster a positive, collaborative work environment
  • manage staffing schedules and optimize resource allocation
  • ensure food safety and regulatory compliance in food handling and distribution
  • support the Produce Production Manager and program operations
  • collaborate with partner agencies, community organizations, and donors
  • implement and maintain technology systems to improve tracking, reporting, and inventory management
  • assist in budgeting and resource planning
  • track operational expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • ensure compliance with grant requirements and donor restrictions
  • collaborate on strategic initiatives and organizational growth
  • prepare operational reports and present findings to the board and leadership team
  • identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • provide oversight and support to the Information Technology Department
