Loveland Living Planet Aquarium (LLPA) is a highly regarded public aquarium located in Draper, Utah, widely recognized for its mission to inspire people to explore, discover, and learn about Earth's diverse ecosystems. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, facilities management, construction management, engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in operations, facilities, or capital project management
- Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships
- Strong knowledge of capital project management and facility operations
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to lead large diverse teams
- Commitment to mission-driven environments
- Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays
- Ability to move regularly between office, operational, and construction environments
- Capability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Adherence to safety and regulatory requirements
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, facilities management, construction management, engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in operations, facilities, or capital project management
- Experience managing budgets and complex vendor or partner relationships
- Experience in operational oversight within a nonprofit or public attraction environment preferred
- Demonstrated success leading complex operational and facilities functions in a mission-driven or public attraction setting
- Proven ability to lead large teams under deadline and guest service pressures
- Strong knowledge of capital project management, facility operations, and vendor relationship management
- Excellent financial management, strategic planning, and analytical skills
- Proven ability to navigate and manage partnerships with outside contractors and concessionaires
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated leadership fostering collaboration, accountability, and empowerment
- Commitment to the aquarium’s mission and values with a focus on guest experience, sustainability, and operational excellence
Job Duties
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the aquarium's operations
- Oversee daily operations of facilities maintenance and events
- Develop and implement systems, policies, and standard operating procedures
- Establish key performance indicators and measure outcomes
- Collaborate with other senior leaders on cross-departmental initiatives
- Lead planning, budgeting, and execution of capital improvement and construction projects
- Partner with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure project quality and alignment with standards
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and reporting
- Ensure projects comply with building codes and accreditation standards
- Provide leadership to facilities and maintenance teams
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs
- Manage service contracts for landscaping, janitorial, and pest control
- Collaborate on maintenance prioritization and capital renewal planning
- Ensure infrastructure supports sustainability and energy efficiency
- Lead the events team in delivering private, corporate, and community events
- Serve as liaison with key guest-facing partners including café, retail, and daycare
- Oversee contract performance and operational collaboration with partners
- Build and mentor high-performing operational teams
- Establish departmental goals, budgets, and accountability systems
- Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory requirements
- Represent the aquarium professionally with contractors, vendors, and community partners
