Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Ten years of experience in administrative or professional work
- Three years of experience involving supervision, coordination of operations, or policy development
- At least nine years in middle management or higher roles in an urban rail transit agency or large transit operations
- Ability to manage labor relations including contract negotiations and grievance procedures
- Demonstrated experience in safety compliance and performance accountability
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Ten years of experience in administrative or professional work
- Three years of experience supervising employees or overseeing operations
- At least nine years of experience in middle management or higher in a public or private urban rail transit agency or large transit operations
- Experience in program management, service contract compliance, and scheduling software
- Experience working in a unionized setting
- Knowledge of transportation and transit trends and emerging projects
- Proven leadership in organizational turnaround and program expansion
- Strong team-building and change management skills
Job Duties
- Provide overall leadership of Metro Operations and formulate public transportation objectives
- Develop and implement short-range and long-range goals, strategic and business plans
- Formulate and recommend operating policies and procedures or changes
- Ensure coordination and cooperation of services among assigned departments
- Participate in committees and task forces
- Coordinate work of divisions within the department and activities with outside agencies
- Participate in contract negotiations, administration of collective bargaining agreements, grievance investigations and arbitration proceedings
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain accountability for safety performance
- Approve expenditures and implement budgetary adjustments as appropriate
- Contribute to short-term and long-term planning for rail operating resources and capital assets
- Respond to operational issues and meet program and safety compliance objectives to provide safe and efficient customer service
- Support a diverse customer base throughout Maryland
