Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4 years experience in human resources, management operations, or related professional area
  • OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related major
  • 2 years experience in human resources, management operations, or related professional area
  • Strong knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations
  • Ability to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Capability to manage employee relations and resolve conflicts
  • Proficiency in performance management and employee development processes
  • Effective communication and coaching skills
  • Must be available to work full time onsite at Sheraton Boston Hotel

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years experience in human resources or related management operations
  • OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related major with 2 years experience in human resources or management operations
  • Strong knowledge of human resource laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Experience with employee relations and disciplinary procedures
  • Effective communication and coaching skills
  • Ability to manage performance appraisal processes
  • Experience in recruitment and employee development
  • Commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Ensure terminated employee files are retained for the required length of time
  • Ensure compliance on all human resource audits
  • Ensure proper documentation of all progressive disciplinary action is kept in employee file
  • Ensure compliance with key policies such as sexual harassment, non-harassment, non-discrimination, and no solicitation
  • Work with the unemployment services provider to respond to unemployment claims
  • Attend unemployment hearings and ensure property is properly represented
  • Ensure employees are treated fairly and equitably
  • Ensure Guarantee of Fair Treatment policy is consistently followed and proper documentation is maintained on all disciplinary issues
  • Administer property policies fairly and consistently
  • Ensure disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures and support the Peer Review Process
  • Communicate changes to the benefit plans in a timely manner
  • Communicate property rules and regulations via an employee handbook
  • Coach managers on progressive discipline process
  • Participate in the interviewing and hiring of Human Resources employee team members
  • Ensure performance evaluations and merit increase paperwork are maintained in employee files
  • Manage performance appraisal process ensuring reviews are conducted timely and increases processed quickly
  • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with employees
  • Utilize an open door policy to address employee problems or concerns in a timely manner
  • Ensure effective employee communication channels are established and active in departments
  • Strive to improve employee retention
  • Monitor work environment for signs of union organization
  • Solicit employee feedback
  • Organize Spirit to Serve Our Communities events
