Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years housekeeping/laundry experience
- Supervisory experience required
- Ability to work flexible days including weekends and holidays
- Ability to work variable shifts including days, nights, and overnights
- Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, and kneel frequently
- Ability to manage department budget and staffing
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-year college degree preferred
- 4+ years housekeeping/laundry experience in similar hotel
- Supervisory experience required
- Understanding of union environment preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software
- Experience managing high volume turns and changes
- Extensive knowledge of the hotel and hospitality industry
Job Duties
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping department
- Plan, schedule, and organize work to ensure proper coverage
- Communicate and enforce policies and procedures
- Develop and implement procedures for managing the quality of housekeeping and laundry services
- Ensure staff clean and service rooms according to Sonesta standards
- Schedule routine inspections of guest rooms and public areas
- Respond to guest complaints and special requests
- Conduct departmental and pre-shift meetings
- Establish par levels for supplies
- Promote teamwork through coordination with other departments
- Manage lost and found security
- Serve as manager on duty as required
- Prepare weekly work schedules and adjust as needed
- Conduct inventories of linen, supplies, and equipment
- Analyze guest satisfaction data to improve service
- Develop and monitor department budget
- Control labor costs and maximize profitability
- Interview, hire, train, and discipline Housekeeping staff
- Monitor and recognize staff performance
- Support company initiatives and policies
- Lead by example, promoting integrity and respect
- Collaborate with corporate office and other departments to achieve success
