Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Function as the leader of the property’s group sales effort for properties with a significant number of events over 300 peak rooms
  • solicit, book and develop local group business
  • recommend booking goals for sales team members
  • develop and manage group sales revenue and operation budgets and provide forecasting reports
  • work with management team to create and implement a group sales/marketing plan addressing revenue, customers and market
  • assist with selling, implementation and follow-through of group sales promotions
  • execute and support Marriott’s Customer Service Standards and hotel’s Brand Standards
  • execute and support the operational aspects of business booked including generating proposal, writing contracts, and customer correspondence
  • participate in and practice daily service basics of the brand
  • coordinate and deploy group sales resources on-property to monitor the pull-through and sustainment of sales strategies and selling solutions
  • verify seamless turnover from sales to operations and back to sales while delivering high level of service
  • manage the property’s reactive and proactive group sales efforts
  • monitor effective resolution of guest issues resulting from sales process
  • maintain successful performance by increasing revenues, controlling expenses and providing ROI for the owner and Marriott International
  • implement the brand’s service strategy and brand initiatives in all sales process aspects
  • maintain ultimate accountability for maximizing group revenue opportunities by up-selling and accurately forecasting revenues (e.g., catering and group rooms) for all events
  • perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs
  • work collaboratively with off-property sales channels to verify property needs are met and sales efforts are complementary
  • interact effectively with guests, vendors, competitors, and internal departments to maintain guest satisfaction
  • execute exemplary customer service to drive satisfaction and loyalty
  • serve the customer by understanding needs and recommending appropriate services
  • gain understanding of the hotel’s primary target customer and their expectations
  • develop close working relationship with operations to execute hotel level strategies
  • manage and direct on-property group sales effort to achieve revenue goals by targeting high value accounts and implementing sales deployment strategies
  • work with Director of Sales and Marketing to establish and implement sales strategy
  • partner with Human Resources to attract, develop and retain talent
  • create effective job structures and performance management systems
  • set goals and expectations for direct reports, align performance and rewards, and address performance issues
  • forecast talent needs and manage acquisition strategy to minimize turnover
  • keep active competitor sales personnel list and execute recruitment plans
  • support training resources to educate sales associates on catering solutions
  • champion leadership development and workforce planning priorities
  • identify, train, and mentor group sales associates
  • transfer functional knowledge and develop group sales skills of other managers
  • share responsibility for achieving group revenue goals, guest and associate satisfaction
  • provide day-to-day leadership oversight focused on building long-term, value-based customer relationships
