Job Requirements

  • At least 6 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
  • Or a 4-year college degree and at least 3 years of related experience
  • Or a 2-year college degree and 4 or more years of related experience
  • Proficient in Windows and company-approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques and health department rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of liquor laws and regulations
  • Must be able to work long hours sometimes
  • Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently or constantly
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests
  • Strong listening skills to understand and clarify concerns
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Approach all encounters attentively, friendly, courteously and with service orientation
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in Manager on Duty coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance as per Highgate Hotel Standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations
  • Maximize productivity and assist in implementing solutions to problem areas
  • Effective in handling problems including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving
  • Ability to understand and evaluate complex information from various sources

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees
  • Supervise all food and beverage personnel
  • Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner
  • Prepare the food and beverage budget and monitor department performance, including forecasting
  • Monitor industry trends and take appropriate action to maintain competitive and profitable operations
  • Work with other Executive Committee members, keeping them informed of food and beverage issues
  • Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring attention
  • Coordinate and monitor all phases of loss prevention in the food and beverage department
  • Prepare and submit required reports timely
  • Organize and conduct department meetings regularly
  • Monitor quality of service and product
  • Cooperate in menu planning and preparation
  • Ensure timely purchase of food and beverage items within budget
  • Oversee operations of the employee cafeteria
  • Ensure compliance with all local liquor laws and health and sanitation regulations
  • Ensure departmental compliance with standard operating procedures
  • Ensure training of department heads on SOPs, report preparation, and technical job tasks
  • Attend and/or conduct departmental and hotel training sessions
  • Interview candidates for front-of-house food and beverage positions following hiring standards
  • Conduct and/or attend all required meetings including pre-convention and post-convention
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
