Job Requirements
- Five plus years of experience in hotel accounting
- Major brand experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Proficient MS Excel skills
- Experience with Profit Sword and/or M3 property systems preferred
- Management training required
- Sense of ownership with operational success
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Accountability to owners, asset management, and operators

Job Duties
- Provide ethical and consistent leadership in the financial area of the hotel
- Supply management with guidance, training, and support
- Focus on profitability and maintain accurate, timely financial reporting
- Ensure acceptable levels of internal controls
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Safeguard owners/investors assets
- Notify management of financial deviations or control weaknesses promptly
- Manage and communicate cash flow issues accurately
- Prepare cash flow statements and manage receivables, cash balances, and deposits
- Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and investigate budget variances
- Assist management with capital planning and evaluate capital improvement projects
- Ensure compliance on all regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and operational taxes
- Coordinate completion of forecasts and budgets involving the management team
- Analyze financial data to assist management in maintaining financial objectives
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts including bank reconciliations timely
- Audit all internal financial controls including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, credit extension, inventories, assets, payroll, and employee records
- Hire, train, supervise, and develop accounting staff
- Maintain compliance with standards and regulations for safe operation
- Ensure proper utilization and periodic upgrades of IT systems and equipment
- Prepare financial reports in accordance with company requirements
- Review labor report for overtime and forecast variances
- Distribute and discuss weekly general ledger reports with department managers
- Update general manager on unfavorable financial issues
- Reconcile balance sheet with proper backup
- Review key financial controls checklist for adherence
- Examine discrepancies in forecasted versus actual numbers
