Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in hotel accounting
  • Major brand experience preferred
  • Doubletree experience helpful
  • BS degree preferred but not absolutely required
  • Strong PMS/property systems preferred
  • MS Excel skills
  • Some management training required
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Sense of ownership and operational focus
  • Sound, sensible management and leadership skills
  • Accountability to owners, asset management and operator

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of hotel accounting experience
  • Experience with major hotel brands preferred
  • Strong knowledge of PMS/property systems
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Management training experience
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights
  • Experience with financial reporting and internal controls
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance in hospitality
  • Ability to manage budgets and forecasts
  • Skilled in staff development and team leadership

Job Duties

  • Provide ethical and consistent financial leadership
  • Supply management with guidance, training and support
  • Focus on business profitability and maintain timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Ensure internal controls and regulatory compliance
  • Evaluate financial impacts on business decisions
  • Notify management of financial deviations and control weaknesses
  • Manage and communicate cash flow issues
  • Monitor revenues and expenses
  • Investigate variances and recommend improvements
  • Oversee capital planning and evaluation
  • Ensure compliance on licenses, permits, leases, contracts and taxes
  • Coordinate forecasts and budgets
  • Analyze financial data to advise management
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations
  • Audit internal financial controls
  • Hire, train and develop finance staff
  • Maintain compliance with hotel operational standards
  • Ensure proper use and upgrades of IT systems
  • Prepare and review financial reports
  • Monitor cash deposits and credit card transmissions
  • Review labor and departmental reports
  • Distribute weekly GL reports
  • Update GM on financial issues
  • Ensure sufficient cash availability
  • Count banks and vault
  • Review financial controls checklist
  • Participate in credit meetings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
