Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hospitality finance or accounting
- Proven management experience supervising finance staff
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency in financial software and hotel management systems
- Ability to prepare and analyze detailed financial reports
- Expertise in regulatory compliance related to financial operations
- Capable of managing audits and liaising with external auditors
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding assets
Job Qualifications
- At least 5 or more years of hospitality finance or accounting experience
- Prior controller or director of finance experience preferably at a premium-branded hotel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in finance or accounting
- Experience supervising 2 or more employees
- Proficient in Windows, company approved spreadsheets and word processing software
- Familiarity with hotel-specific systems and operations
Job Duties
- Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues
- Prepare monthly financial statements including cash flow, receivables, payables, cash balances, and deposits
- Monitor hotel revenues and expenses ensuring accurate recording
- Create annual budgets and perform monthly variance analysis with improvement recommendations
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory licenses, permits, contracts, and operational taxes
- Analyze financial data and assist management in maintaining financial objectives
- Comply with standard accounting policies and internal controls
- Review and approve all balance sheet accounts including bank reconciliation and ledger reconciliations
- Establish and audit internal financial controls involving purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, assets, master keys, payroll, and employee records
- Coordinate and complete internal and external financial audits
- Hire, train, supervise, and develop finance staff
- Maintain compliance with Highgate Hotels' standards for safe and efficient operations
- Prepare all financial reports meeting due dates including weekly AR/AP aging, flash reports, payroll reports, monthly financial statements, forecasting, budgets, and long-term plans
- Interact with executive committee members ensuring property operational control
- Monitor timely compliance with reporting deadlines
- Oversee accurate production of daily operating reports
- Execute special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
