Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area
  • OR 2-year degree from accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
  • 2 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and forecast revenue
  • Excellent customer service orientation
  • Effective communication abilities
  • Training and coaching experience
  • Knowledge of departmental and property emergency procedures
  • Capability to work with high profile clients and complex event logistics

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related field
  • OR 2-year degree from accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with 2 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related field
  • Experience in managing teams and leading event planning operations
  • Ability to handle complex and high-profile group events
  • Strong financial acumen to manage budgets and maximize revenue
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency in customer service and guest relations
  • Knowledge of safety and emergency protocols
  • Familiarity with vendor and customer relations
  • Skills in training and staff development
  • Strategic planning and problem-solving capabilities

Job Duties

  • Assigns all events turned over to Event Planning team
  • Oversees function space and group room blocks for turned opportunities
  • Communicates and executes departmental and property emergency procedures ensuring staff are trained in safety
  • Leads execution of activities to support the Event Management strategy
  • Reviews scheduled events with direct reports to troubleshoot potential challenges and conflicts
  • Leads discussions to review event complexity and proactively avoid service challenges and failures
  • Manages customer budgets to maximize revenue and meet customer needs
  • Maintains inventories to maximize customer satisfaction and revenue opportunities
  • Works with highly complex or high profile groups with significant financial impact
  • Leads catering menu development process
  • Champions standards, policies and procedures for the Event Planning team
  • Leads Event Management meetings
  • Reviews comment cards, guest satisfaction results and other data to identify improvement areas
  • Shares plans with property leadership to enhance guest satisfaction
  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality and fosters positive guest relations
  • Interacts with guests to obtain product quality and service feedback
  • Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints
  • Strives to improve service performance
  • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service
  • Develops relationships with outside vendors establishing prices and service agreements to enhance event experience
  • Consults with customers to determine event objectives and requirements
  • Establishes customer service guidelines for employees
  • Ensures ongoing training to meet guest expectations
  • Observes employee service behaviors providing feedback
  • Reviews staffing levels to ensure service and planning needs are met
