Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related field
  • OR 2-year degree from accredited university in relevant major
  • Minimum 2 years experience in event management or related field
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and forecasts
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to work onsite in Long Beach, California
  • Willingness to work full-time
  • Eligible to receive bonus

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related field
  • OR 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with 2 years experience
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Proficiency in budget management and revenue forecasting
  • Ability to handle complex or high-profile groups
  • Experience in developing catering menus and supporting event sales strategies
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and emergency protocol
  • Skilled in resolving guest complaints and improving service performance
  • Ability to develop vendor relationships and negotiate service agreements

Job Duties

  • Assigns all events turned over to event planning team
  • Oversees function space and group room blocks for turned opportunities
  • Communicates and executes departmental and property emergency procedures ensuring staff are trained in safety
  • Leads execution of activities to support event management strategy
  • Reviews scheduled events with direct reports to troubleshoot challenges or conflicts
  • Leads discussions on event complexity to proactively avoid service challenges
  • Manages customer budgets to maximize revenue and meet needs
  • Develops catering menu and champions standards, policies, and procedures for event planning team
  • Leads event management meetings
  • Reviews guest satisfaction data to identify areas for improvement
  • Shares plans with leadership to ensure corrective action and improve guest satisfaction
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service
  • Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints
  • Develops relationships with outside vendors and establishes agreements to enhance event experience
  • Consults with customers to determine objectives and requirements for events
  • Establishes customer service guidelines and ensures ongoing employee training
  • Observes service behaviors and provides feedback
  • Reviews staffing levels to meet guest service and planning needs
