Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales, or related area
  • Or 2-year degree from accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales, or related area
  • Ability to manage and lead a diverse team
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with event operations and technology
  • Ability to work full time on-site at Oakland Convention Center

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales, or related field
  • OR 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with 2 years experience
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Knowledge of event technology and banquet operations
  • Ability to manage budgets and financial performance
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and certification compliance

Job Duties

  • Manages all event service, banquet, and event technology operations and staff on a daily basis
  • Works with the management team to develop and implement business plans and long-term strategies for event operations
  • Oversees the execution of event logistics for all events
  • Ensures function spaces and related areas are cleaned and properly maintained
  • Manages budget and profitability by adjusting expenditures according to revenues
  • Consults with customers to understand event objectives and requirements
  • Leads event operations teams and coordinates activities to support event management strategy
