Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, facility management or related field preferred
  • Minimum 6 years progressive experience in hotel or building management typically with Hyatt
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC, carpentry, painting and safety codes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to respond promptly to emergency situations
  • Proficient in budget preparation and contract negotiation
  • Experience in managing renovation and pre-opening projects
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physical demands
  • Comfortable with OSHA and CAL OSHA compliance and training
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to work outdoors and engage in physical activities as required
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse socio-economic and cultural groups

Job Qualifications

  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others
  • 6 years or more of progressive hotel or building management experience typically with Hyatt
  • Opening hotels and previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred
  • Resort experience including grounds, spa, pool required
  • Resort renovation experience preferred
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills
  • Service oriented style with professional presentation skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Comfortable with CAL OSHA and OSHA training
  • Strong working knowledge of all major building systems including life-safety systems
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical skills
  • Proficient in professional public area maintenance practices
  • High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, effective communication and ability to improve the bottom line
  • Comfortable with computers and proficient with Microsoft programs like Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations
  • Engineering or Facility Management degree preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to walk long distances and stand for long periods
  • Ability to work outdoors in the sun and sand
  • Ability to push and pull heavy weights

Job Duties

  • Review contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with vendors, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction problems during property openings
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients representing the owner or developer
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports
  • Develop and implement quality control programs
  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations
  • Work with building code officials, planning/zoning officials and community design committees when required
  • Manage utility systems
  • Specify and purchase equipment
  • Maintain communications with corporate staff
  • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
