Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6 years experience in engineering and maintenance or related area
  • technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing
  • or 2-year degree in building and construction, engineering, or mechanics
  • 4 years related experience
  • ability to manage budgets
  • strong leadership skills
  • understanding of safety and regulatory compliance
  • excellent communication skills
  • proficiency in project and vendor management
  • ability to lead emergency response

Job Duties

  • Work with property and regional engineering leadership to assess budget performance
  • manage physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment and electrical systems
  • administer service contracts
  • ensure fire crew understands procedures and equipment
  • coach engineering leadership on managing controllable expenses
  • manage and control utilities
  • develop engineering operating strategy aligned with property and brand
  • develop and manage engineering budget
  • integrate departmental goals into game plans
  • oversee preventative maintenance and asset protection plans
  • review financial reports to assess budget performance
  • proactively address concerns with proposed solutions
  • communicate departmental goals clearly
  • supervise construction projects for timely, budget-compliant completion
  • ensure compliance with state, local and federal regulations
  • maintain life safety systems
  • keep building licenses and permits current
  • administer property policies fairly
  • manage payroll and controllable expenses
  • participate in capital expenditure planning and budgeting
  • prepare P&L critiques
  • educate staff on financial impact of operations
  • ensure fair employee treatment
  • enforce disciplinary procedures
  • use open door policy to address employee concerns
  • celebrate team successes
  • resolve guest complaints
  • collaborate with human resources
  • maintain ongoing communication within the engineering team
