Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in hotel engineering or related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • Current federal, state or local certifications relevant to trade requirements
  • State certification and licensing for boilers and chillers
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand during entire shifts
  • Ability to work in stressful and high-pressure situations
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with financial data
  • Availability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
  • Supervisory experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current certifications required by federal, state or local governing agents for trade requirements including HVAC, pool operation, electrical
  • Certification and licensing to operate and repair boilers and chillers as required by state
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work in high-pressure environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of financial information and budget management
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing proper dress code
  • Comply with Marriott Brand standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Review maintenance staff's worked hours for payroll and submit through payroll system
  • Focus Maintenance Department on their role in contributing to Guest Service Satisfaction
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and provide training using effective training steps
  • Ensure Material Safety Data sheets are current and accessible
  • Establish ongoing training for departments including Housekeeping, Front Desk, Loss Prevention, Maintenance and Kitchen
  • Adhere to budgeted or re-forecasted expenses and manage purchases
  • Coordinate inspections of fire safety systems
  • Implement and administer Preventive Maintenance Program
  • Document and distribute Emergency Procedures Plan and execute in emergencies
  • Manage energy expenses and conservation efforts
  • Evaluate work of staff, contractors and outside laborers
  • Supervise guest room preventive maintenance program and ensure timely completion
  • Maintain files of operational manuals and warranty agreements
  • Respond immediately to alarms and report findings to General Manager
  • Act as emergency contact for facility issues
  • Conduct regular inspections of guestrooms, hotel property, pool, and spa
  • Maintain key control system
  • Perform additional duties as requested by General Manager
