Job Requirements

  • 2-year culinary degree preferred
  • minimum five years food preparation experience in a high-volume dining services venue
  • at least three years supervisory experience
  • management experience required
  • knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling procedures
  • familiarity with special diets and applicable laws
  • ability to lead and motivate a team
  • capacity to lift or carry up to 50 lbs
  • capability of standing and maneuvering independently for extended periods
  • proficiency with computers
  • adherence to safety protocols
  • willingness to travel locally and out of state
  • free of communicable diseases during job duties
  • able to work under moderate physical and emotional stress
  • exposure to cleaning chemicals, heat and cold
  • possess manual dexterity to operate kitchen equipment

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Lead and personally contribute to the preparation and cooking of meals for all dining venues in the community
  • monitor food production to ensure compliance with standards for quality, presentation, portion control, safety, sanitation, and compliance
  • attract, retain, coach, motivate and lead a high-performance dining service delivery team
  • assure the implementation and efficient delivery of Dining Services program
  • create menus and plan for special events
  • keep abreast of special dietary needs and ensure proper execution
  • establish and maintain effective communication with residents, family members, and guests to assure excellent customer satisfaction
  • build, develop, and manage dietary associates optimizing performance through leadership, mentoring, and training
  • monitor inventory and prepare food and supply orders
  • lead and actively participate in daily production meetings
  • provide training, coaching, guidance, and direction to line cooks
  • create and manage schedules ensuring sufficient staffing and adherence to labor budget
  • oversee and monitor food preparation, storage, and handling ensuring compliance with all food service regulations
  • follow safety protocols and set example for a culture of safety
  • maintain documentation of temperature charts and records
  • ensure kitchen environment and dining areas are clean, orderly, and safe
  • maintain open communication and professional relationship between front and back of house operations and other departments
  • participate in marketing and community events
  • assist in development and adherence to Dining Services budget
  • administer and participate in Manager on Duty program
  • serve on special projects and assignments
  • participate in in-service training and education programs as scheduled
  • perform other duties as assigned
