Job Requirements

  • Degree in culinary arts, nutrition, food service management, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in culinary management
  • Strong knowledge of USDA child nutrition guidelines and food safety standards
  • Proven experience in menu development and vendor management
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and hiring culinary staff
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement seasonal, rotational menus that are USDA-compliant, age-appropriate, and reflect the brand
  • Oversee compliance with all food safety regulations and develop SOPs for kitchen practices
  • Conduct regular kitchen audits to ensure quality and safety standards
  • Supervise, coach, and support all school chefs, including hiring and professional development
  • Create and distribute operational manuals for kitchens and recognize excellence through Chef of the Month program
  • Review and approve menus and develop standardized recipe guides
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, track food costs, and centralize ordering
  • Collaborate with curriculum and marketing teams to enhance family dining experience and brand alignment
  • Plan and execute culinary needs for special events and celebrations
